Lancaster City will try to bounce back from two away defeats when they return to home turf to host FC United of Manchester.

Lancaster’s last two results have both been 2-0 defeats to two high-flying teams in the NPL Division – South Shields in first and Warrington Town in third.

However, their last home game on January 28 was a dramatic 2-1 victory over Matlock Town, with David Norris getting a last minute winner.

If Lancaster were to get three points on Saturday, it would be the first time this season that they’ve recorded back to back home wins.

FC United of Manchester have been a bit inconsistent of late, and are currently eighth. The last time the two sides faced each other in October, they played out a 1-1 draw and The Reds were top of the league. They have won four of their last ten, drawing and losing three each.

Their star striker Regan Linney departed the club last week to join Altrincham. He was the league’s top goalscorer with 20 goals this season.

Another striker who has left the club in recent days is former Lancaster loanee Joe Rodwell-Grant after his loan from Wigan Athletic came to an end. He scored five goals in 20 appearances in his time at Broadhurst Park.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s game after their last match at Warrington Town, Lancaster manager Mark Fell told the media that “we’ll roll our sleeves up” and “look to get a positive result”.

Fell said it was important for everyone at the club to “stay together” during a challenging time due to the number of injuries in the squad.

Lancaster City v FC United of Manchester gets under way at 3pm on Saturday at the Giant Axe.
