Lancaster City hope to bounce back against Stalybridge after frustrating draw

Lancaster City will host Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday (January 7) after a frustrating result in Greater Manchester this week.

The Dollies drew 1-1 against Atherton Collieries on Monday (January 2), a result that frustrated manager Mark Fell.

He lamented his team’s inability to convert dominance into wins.

Their attention now turns to a return to the Giant Axe where they’ll face Stalybridge Celtic, who they lost 1-0 against in August away from home

Just like they did with Atherton Collieries, Lancaster City head into this game with a one place difference between their opponents in the NPL Premier Division table – the Dollies are in 15th, the Celts are in 16th.

Saturday’s visitors have won their last two games in the league, the first of those being a 1-0 victory over second-placed Hyde United on Boxing Day.

On Monday, City’s David Norris was forced off with an injury which Mark Fell admitted “looks fairly bad”.

Kyle Brownhill could return to the side, depending on how he’s been advised to manage his recovery from concussion, which he suffered on Boxing Day.

Lancaster City have this week made a renewed push for donations to their fans’ fund which provides financial support to the club.

It would require fans to set up a standing order each month and the club ask that the order runs all year round to allow the club to build up a reserve over the summer months. The minimum you can pledge per month is £5.

For more information visit the club’s website and if you would like to pledge your support, email stevemrw1964@aol.com

Lancaster City v Stalybridge Celtic kicks off at 3pm on Saturday (January 7) at The Giant Axe.
