Morecambe’s Dave Chisnall has suffered a shock first round exit in the European Darts Championship.
Chizzy, who went into the tournament as number one seed following an excellent year, faced Chris Dobey in the first round in Dortmund, in the last PDC Challenge Tour event of 2023.
However it wasn’t to be against the number 32 seed.
After taking a 2-0 leg lead, he then missed four darts for 3-0 it went downhill fast. Chisnall did not win another leg and saw the victory go to Dobey 6-2.
Despite the defeat for Chisnall, it has still been an excellent season for him, winning three other Euro Tour events in Kiel, Leeuwarden and Budapest, as well as a Players Championship title.
Chisnall is currently number twelve on the world ranking list, ahead of the PDC World Championship, which starts in December.
Ahead of that, the PDC calendar sees events including the Grand Slam if Darts and the Players Championship finals.
