Dave Chisnall Masters comeback halted by two-time world champion Snakebite

Dave Chisnall

Dave Chisnall was knocked out of the televised Cazoo Masters darts event despite a spirited fightback against a two-time former world champion.

Chizzy was beaten 10-7 by Peter 'Snakebite' Wright after reeling off four legs in a row to close the gap from 9-3 down and make the colourful world number two sweat.

But Wright's consistency proved too much in the end as he wrapped up victory with a 101 three-dart average to reach the quarter-finals.

The second round clash in Milton Keynes was screened live on ITV3 on Saturday night.

Earlier world number 18 Chisnall had mounted another comeback, surviving match darts to win the last three legs and edge Ryan Searle 6-5 in the first round.

Chizzy produced a sensational 161 checkout to deny Searle in a dramatic last-leg decider on Friday.

Last year the Morecambe man reached the final of the event, losing to Joe Cullen.

The £275,000 tournament sees 24 of the world's top darts stars compete at the Marshall Arena in the Buckinghamshire city, vying for a top prize of £65,000.
