Busy bank holiday weekend ahead for Lancaster City

Lancaster City FC have a busy bank holiday weekend ahead of them.

The Dollies will first head to Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday, still looking for their first three points of the season. The visit of Atherton Colleries will soon follow on Monday.

Gainsborough Trinity head into their home game against the Dollies in solid form – they are still yet to lose in the league but, just like the away side, have drawn three of their first four Northern Premier League fixtures.

City, sitting 19th in a league of 22, are one of four teams who are currently in the relegation zone.

A first win of the campaign, however, would undoubtedly be crucial to gaining confidence and would almost certainly see them surpass the bottom four positions.

Atherton Colleries currently find themselves mid-table, having won one, drawn one and lost two. They host Matlock Town on Saturday before travelling to Lancaster two days later.

City manager Mark Fell is hopeful that the Dollies can get their first victory of the season at Gainsborough.

“We’ve got to maintain a belief and I believe in these players, I believe we’ve got a really good side”, he told the club website.

“We’ll go there (to Gainsborough) believing we can win the game, because we can, and at some point things will drop and click for us, and someone will get beaten and get beaten heavily by us, I’ve no doubt about that.”

Gainsborough Trinity vs Lancaster City kicks off at 3pm at The David Longstaff Martin & Co Arena on Saturday, whereas the Dollies’ game at the Giant Axe against Atherton Colleries starts at 3pm on Monday.

That game on August 29 will take place after a coaching session at the Giant Axe, which will begin from 1pm and will be available to boys and girls aged between four and 12.

The session is completely free. You can book here.
