Youths on laughing gas run amok in Lancaster park throwing ice cream at Ashton Memorial

Williamson Park in Lancaster

A gang of youths ran amok in Williamson Park taking laughing gas and throwing stolen ice cream at the Ashton Memorial.

Police said that 15 to 20 youths damaged an ice cream van and stole tubs of ice cream and cones on April 15 between 6pm and 9.30pm.

They said it is estimated that the damage and stolen items, plus loss of business will cost around £1,200.

The damage was to the nearside window of an antique ice cream truck which had a brick thrown through it.

The thefts were of 15 tubs of 4.5 litre ice cream which retail at £15 each and three boxes of ice cream cones which retail at £20 each.

They were thrown over the Ashton Memorial in the park.

Police also found multiple canisters of Nitrous Oxide gas (laughing gas) and litter strewn about

They said this suggested the gas had been inhaled in the park, warning that this can be fatal.

"We have CCTV footage of the youths, and we will be pursuing our investigation and bringing the culprits for an interview," said a police spokesperson.

"If you know who was involved, then please contact 1625@lancashire.police.uk and quote log number LC-20230416-0377."
