Young performers at award-winning stage school welcome Lancaster MP

Ciara Moriarty from The Performance Studios with Cat Smith, Lancaster MP

Young singers, dancers and performers welcomed the Lancaster MP when she visited an award-winning stage school based in the city.

Cat Smith visited The Performance Studios, based at The Dukes in Lancaster, to see how youngsters aged three to 18 are learning the skills of the stage.

The Performance Studios was set up by Ciara Moriarty, who recently won 'Young Person of the Year' at the Love Lancaster Business Awards.

Ms Smith wrote a letter to congratulate Ciara whilst highlighting the importance of performing arts and recognising The Performance Studios' impact in the community.

"The Performance Studios Lancaster is an outstanding, female-led creative business which offers dancing, singing and acting lessons for three to 18 year olds, taught by industry professionals," she said.

"I was delighted to visit The Performance Studios to see the amazing work they are doing first-hand.

"Company director, Miss Ciara established The Performance Studios when she was just 20 years old whilst finishing her studies at Lancaster University.

"Ciara won the ‘Young Person Of The Year Award’ at the recent Lancaster Business Awards, which I can say is truly deserved. She and her team are super impressive women and entrepreneurs in their own right.

"I was lucky enough to see some of the little ones in action. They showed me a fantastic dance which they had learned in just 10 minutes and showcased a song that they have been working on from Frozen!

"Thank you so much to everyone over at the Performance Studios for welcoming me."

Ciara said: "We were so honoured when Cat came to meet our performance family, taking the time to see what The Performance Studios is all about.

"Cat got to see the theatre space and had a glimpse of what we do and saw just how good our performers are by watching one of our musical theatre classes!"

Parents and students also joined them for a morning of pastries and questions.
