Wanted man arrested and drugs found in Lancaster station knife arch operation

A wanted man was arrested and people found with drugs after officers deployed a knife arch at Lancaster train station.

The knife arch was being used as part of Operation Sceptre, a week-long police campaign of action targeting knife crime.

Officers from Lancaster Police joined up with British Transport Police for the operation, with the aim of the arch to combat criminals using rail services, those carrying knives and other vulnerabilities.

Colleagues from the Child Criminal Exploitation team and plain clothed officers also joined to help spot any activity.

As part of the operation, a man wanted on warrant after he failed to appear in court was arrested, while there were also a number of what police described as ‘positive stop searches’ made for cannabis

Officers said they would also like to thank the public who spoke to them, gave community intelligence and offered positive engagement.
