By-election candidates confirmed for Scotforth city council by-election

There’s a local council by-election for the Scotforth East ward next month.

The area near Lancaster University is the focus of a by-election on Thursday, October 3, after former Labour Councillor Sophie Maddocks resigned for personal reasons.

The candidates for the seat are:

Mark Andrew Arnell - Labour and the Co-operative Party

Malcolm Martin - Liberal Democrats

Andrew Robert Otway -  Green Party

Timothy Wood - Conservative Party

Scotforth East is represented by two city councillors, with Labour’s Jason Wood being the ward’s other councillor.

Lancaster City Council currently has 22 Green Party councillors, who have become the largest political group, followed by Labour with 21 councillors.
