Tyson Fury says playing golf in Morecambe has made him a better fighter

Boxer Tyson Fury says that playing golf in Morecambe is helping him train for his upcoming world heavyweight title fight.

The WBC Heavyweight Champion of the World has set up training camp at his home in Morecambe for his April 23 clash with Dillian Whyte.

And during a media call on Thursday, he revealed his unusual training methods for the big Wembley Stadium bout.

"We've been playing a lot of golf, a lot of driving the greens up on the golf course in Morecambe Bay," said Fury.

"I hit 150 to 200 balls a day. I think that's really improved my right hand and putting my shoulder into the shot, driving that ball 400 yards.

"We always do something a little bit different in every different camp."

Fury's gym is near the Mazuma Stadium, home of Morecambe Football Club.

His training partner and friend, fellow boxer Isaac Lowe from Morecambe, recently released a video of himself running up the steps of the Ashton Memorial in Lancaster during preparation for his own fight at Wembley on April 23.
