Actor and comedian Jim Moir - better known as his alter-ego Vic Reeves - has been spotted filming in Morecambe for a new birdwatching TV show.

Jim and his wife Nancy were filming on Morecambe beach on Saturday morning for their new Sky Arts show 'Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir'.

They also shot scenes at the Midland Hotel and near the Stone Jetty, and at RSPB Leighton Moss nature reserve at Silverdale.

The six-part series will see Jim and Nancy travel around the UK following their great passions of birdwatching and painting.

Here are photos and a video clip of them filming on Morecambe beach on Saturday.

Moir shot to fame in the early 90s as the anarchic Vic Reeves character on Channel 4's hit comedy show 'Vic Reeves Big Night Out'.

He also had a number one hit in 1991, a cover of 'Dizzy' alongside The Wonder Stuff.

Alongside comedy partner Bob Mortimer, he had further telly successes including with the game show 'Shooting Stars' and 'The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer', becoming one of the UK's best-loved entertainers.

He appeared alongside his wife Nancy in 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here' in 2004.

In 2011, Moir starred as Eric Morecambe's father George Bartholomew in the BBC TV drama 'Eric and Ernie' about the life of legendary comedy double act Morecambe and Wise, which was filmed in and around Eric's hometown of Morecambe.
