Two sisters are getting ready to open a luxury tanning, beauty and hair salon in a former Morecambe high street bank after a £370,000 refurbishment.
Terri King and Ellie Docherty will soon open their new Glo & Co business in the former TSB building on Market Street.
Terri and Ellie said Glo & Co will be a 'tanning centre and salon hybrid' based on American-style 'Phoenix Suites' which have been opening up in big cities all over the UK.
It will combine luxury state-of-the-art UV tanning, all aspects of beauty therapy and advanced aesthetic procedures, as well as unisex hairdressing and barbering.
Ellie will be the manager and there will be at least 21 specialist staff working in the new centre.
A major refurbishment of the former Morecambe town centre bank is currently taking place ahead of a planned grand opening within the next month.
"There will be nothing like this around here," said Glo & Co owner Terri, who lives in Overton.
"The refurbishment has been massive.
"We chose Morecambe because we felt that it's on the up, and we wanted to buy rather than rent.
"It's a really positive area around there, with a lot of refurbishments going on, and new businesses (nearby) like Shore Thing (bar and barber shop).
"It will be great for the local area and we are predicting a footfall of 200 people per day."
Terri's 'Hairport 49' hair salon has been on Scotforth Road in Lancaster for almost 20 years.
The Lancaster salon will be relocating to the new Morecambe site when it opens.
Glo & Co will be open seven days a week until 10pm, will have 14 treatment rooms plus a salon area and top-of-the-range tanning beds, and the company is currently recruiting for additional staff.
There will also be two apartments above the business.
Glo & Co has been project managed and designed by Terri's husband John King, who is overseeing the refurbishment.
The Morecambe TSB branch shut its doors for the final time on Tuesday June 7 2022.
TSB said the branch was closing because of the changing habits of customers, the majority of whom now bank online. It is one of several banks to have closed in Morecambe in recent years, including the Nat West branch on Marine Road Central which shut last month.
