Road closures in place as The Bay film crew returns to Morecambe

Film crews and cast will return to Morecambe this week to shoot scenes for The Bay TV show and a number of road closures will be in place.

Filming will take place in parts of central Morecambe including the Promenade, as well as Heysham, the West End and Bare.

Scenes will be shot for the fourth series of the hit ITV crime drama, written by Lancaster-based Daragh Carville.

The Bay team has written to local residents and businesses informing them they will be filming at the Clock Tower between 10.30am and 12.30pm on Monday, September 12, at the Eric Morecambe Statue between 2pm and midnight that day, then at Rita's Cafe on Marine Road Central on Thursday September 15 between noon and 3pm, and at Brucciani's between 3pm and 7pm that day.

Closures of the Promenade will be in force at times on September 12 during filming at the Clock Tower and the Eric statue.

The Marine Road 1 car park will also close from 7am to midnight on September 12.

Filming will also take place in the Edward Street, Chapel Street and New Street area between 3pm and 8pm on September 12.

Roads will be accessible as normal but car parking will be restricted in the area.

The fourth series sees Marsha Thomason (Cobra, White Collar) reprise her role as Morecambe CID’s Family Liaison Officer, DS Jenn Townsend.

Marsha stars alongside series regulars Daniel Ryan, Erin Shanagher, Thomas Law and Andrew Dowbiggin (Cobra, Coronation Street). The series also sees the return of Barry Sloane, Georgia Scholes, David Carpenter and Emme Haynes.

Joining the new series as guest cast are Joe Armstrong (Gentleman Jack, Happy Valley), Claire Goose (Waking The Dead, Unforgotten), Ian Puleston-Davies (Coronation Street, Pennyworth, Tin Star), Karl Davies (The Tower, Happy Valley), Christopher Coghill (Slow Horses, Home Fires), Tom Taylor (Us, Doctor Foster), Eloise Thomas (Chloe), Will Oldfield (The Goes Wrong Show) and Ella Smith (CBeebies Presents: The Tempest).

The latest list of temporary road closures for filming of The Bay, released by County Highways. is as follows:

A589 Marine Road Central from its junction with Northumberland Street to its junction with Queen Street. 2300 hours to 2359 hours on Monday September 12; Diversion: Northumberland Street – B5321 Central Drive – B5321 Queen Street – B5321 Euston Road – Thornton Road Poulton Square– Lord Street – A589 Marine Road Central.

Elms Road, Morecambe from its junction with Marine Road to its junction with Happy Mount Drive 0900 hours to 2359 hours on Tuesday September 13; Access to be maintained outside of takes.

West Street, Morecambe including Back Yorkshire Street North Morecambe from its junction with Marine Road to its junction with Clarendon Road West. 0700 hours to 2200 hours on Wednesday September 14; Diversion: Marine Road – Regent Road – Clarendon Road West.

It has also been announced that some filming will take place at the former Frontierland site on Marine Road West.
