Police appeal after man seriously assaulted on Lancaster’s Millennium Bridge

Police are appealing for information and witnesses after a man suffered serious injuries in an attack in Lancaster.

It happened around 12.20am on Saturday 11th May when the victim – a man in his 20s – was walking on Millennium Bridge with two friends.

They were approached by two men and a scuffle started, during which the victim was hit on the head with a hammer and a machete.

A small man bag was taken from him, with the men running off across the bridge to the Skerton side of the river and then towards the Ryelands area.

The victim suffered head injuries and was treated in hospital.

Police are asking for witnesses to come forward and anyone who might have mobile phone or dash cam footage of it.

The Highest Point festival had recently finished so lots of people will have been in the area.
