Police appeal after attempted burglary in Lancaster residential area

Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted burglary in Lancaster.

A man tried to break-in to a property on Palatine Avenue in the Bowerham area on Wednesday afternoon between 4.30pm and 4.45pm.

He is described as white, aged in his late 20s, carrying a Tesco carrier bag.

He had an unkempt short brown beard and was wearing a black puffa jacket with his hood up.

Police said the suspect tried the door, which was unlocked with the occupier inside, but did not enter the property.

He was challenged by the occupier and quickly made off on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect had approached the house from the junction of Scotforth Road.

* Police are also appealing for witnesses to a burglary on Coniston Road, Lancaster over the weekend of Friday January 27-Sunday January 29.
