PHOTOS: Christmas shoppers meet herd of reindeer in Lancaster city centre

Cairngorm reindeer in St Nicholas Arcades in Lancaster on Sunday. Photos by Josh Brandwood.

Christmas shoppers got to meet a real-life herd of reindeer in Lancaster city centre.

The Cairngorm reindeer visited St Nicholas Arcades on Sunday as part of 'Reindeer Day' organised by Lancaster Business Improvement District (BID).

Roaming freely since 1952, the Cairngorm reindeer herd is Britain’s only free-ranging herd of reindeer found in the Cairngorm mountains in Scotland.

The reindeer were led through the city centre streets and set up temporary home in the St Nics shopping centre to meet shoppers.

Father Christmas and his Elves were also there!

Photos are by Josh Brandwood.

You can also follow the Lancaster BID Reindeer Trail for a chance to win £100 to spend in St Nicholas Arcades.

All you have to do is find the 12 model reindeer decorated by local schools, which are on display at locations in the city centre.  Ask a member of the BID team for an entry form.
