People born in 1952 attend mayor's Platinum Jubilee tea party in Lancaster

People who were born in the same year that the Queen's 70-year reign began were invited to a special tea party to mark the Platinum Jubilee.

The Mayor of Lancaster's Platinum Jubilee Tea Party was held at Lancaster Town Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Local people who were born in 1952, the year Queen Elizabeth's accession to the throne, attended the event in the mayor's parlour, as did people with memories of when the Queen's reign began.

Roger Moorhouse from Beyond Radio said the event was "well attended" and "a great opportunity to view the mayor’s parlour, a quiz about Her Majesty, a raffle for good causes and a short talk about the history of the town hall".

Limited tickets were available for the event, and were allocated on a first come first served basis.
