Painted pebbles hidden around Morecambe in touching tribute to much-loved mum

People have been on the look-out for special pebbles that were hidden in Morecambe in memory of a mum-of-two who died aged just 37.

The 12 stones were placed in different locations around Morecambe as a tribute to Sabrina Field, who passed away in February after suffering a brain aneurism.

Sabrina, who was nicknamed Kini, loved to visit Morecambe so her sister Kelly decided to hide the painted rocks in various locations including Happy Mount Park and at the Eric Morecambe Statue.

A card was placed with each rock which asks people who find it, to hide it again to keep Kini's memory alive.

So local people have been re-hiding the pebbles, then posting photos and messages of support to Sabrina's family and friends on a specially set-up Facebook page 'Kinisrocks85'.

Laura Fitton found one on the Stone Jetty on February 28 then re-hid it in in Heysham.

Nicola Coombs posted that she found one near the Wishing Well on Morecambe Promenade.

Meanwhile Kimberley Lowther-Walsh also came across a stone on the Prom (below).

Sam Thompson discovered a pebble near the Venus and Cupid sculpture opposite Morecambe Golf Club.

Beyond Radio's Greg Lambert also found one at the Eric statue on Sunday.

Kelly said: "It keeps her memory alive and it's something that her kids can follow, on social media.

"It's nice when people find them and take them. It's great that people are getting involved.

"Kini was a beauty therapist. She was a single parent and she actually had three jobs. She worked so hard and she was very popular.

"She loved Morecambe, we used to go all the time as a family, so I hid the rocks in places where we had happy memories."

'Kinisrocks' have also been placed in other parts of the North West and in Yorkshire, where Kini was from, and there are even plans to take them overseas.

"We want to get them worldwide," said Kelly.

"If anyone else wants to paint their own 'Kinisrocks' and hide them that would be great too.

"Hopefully she'll be looking down on us, laughing!"

Kelly has also set up a Justgiving page in Sabrina's memory, to raise money for the Brain and Spine Foundation.

It says: "Sabrina was the life and soul of the party. She touched so many lives in her 37 years. She was an amazing mum to Megan and Zain . Daughter to Angela and Duggie, sister to Jodie, Kelly and Lucy. She was friends with so many.

"Sadly Sabrina suffered a brain aneurism on Monday 6.02.2023. Sabrina sadly lost her battle on Friday 10.02.2023. Days before Zain would turn 13 and Megan would turn 18.

"We would like any donations to go to the Brain and Spine Foundation."
