New family Christmas event in Lancaster goes on recruitment drive for elves

Santa is coming to the Big Christmas Day Out but he needs elves!

Organisers of a new family Christmas event are looking for some little helpers for Santa.

The team behind the new Lancaster's Big Christmas Day Out at Williamson Park this December are on a recruitment drive for elves.

They are looking for people who are "full of festive cheer" and who "sprinkle Christmas magic wherever they go" to play the roles.

Elves would be greeting families and assisting with running and hosting craft activities.

The organisers are looking for individuals who ideally have a performance background, with a cheerful and friendly personality.

The Big Christmas Day Out, which will include festive music and entertainment, family activities and local food and drink, takes place in the park on Saturday December 16 and Sunday December 17.

The event is being organised by the team behind the Highest Point music and arts festival which draws thousands to Williamson Park each year.

“Santa loves coming to Lancaster and Morecambe," said Jamie Scahill from the organising team.

“He knows how jolly we all are here and he can’t wait to meet his new elves.”

The Big Christmas Day Out will include everything from Christmas crafting through to Festive Cinema, storytelling, face painting and even a Christmas Maze.

There will be special appearances from Hartbeeps, creators of multi-sensory musical experiences, the Northern Heights dance company and the RagTag Roadshow, where little ones are encouraged to get creative among the amazing mobile scrap store.

The Story Makers from Magical Story Jars will be at the very top of Ashton Memorial with their Christmas Story Mixing Station, and the Crafty Vintage crew will bring their Christmas Market. You can also pop into the Christmas Cafe-Oke to sing along to some of your favourite Christmas classics.

Music around the park will include brass bands, carol singers and DJs.
