New cocktail bar set to open in former Morecambe bank

The new Vault Bar will open in the former HSBC bank/Grandma's Puppet Shop building

A new cocktail bar is set to open in a former bank on Morecambe Prom.

The Vault Bar will open in the former HSBC/Midland bank building on Marine Road Central in the first week of July, it has been announced.

The building was most recently home to Grandma's Puppet Shop, which has moved onto Pedder Street.

Work has been taking place to renovate the inside of the premises for several months.

The bar will be run by Anthony Gregson, who is known locally as a musician with bands including The Bottlenecks and Philip James Turner and the Crow Mandala.

The Vault Bar is currently recruiting for staff and will be part of the upcoming Morecambe Music Festival, taking place on the second weekend of July.

HSBC Bank closed in October 2015 after the building was home to a bank for 127 years, the Midland having opened in the premises in 1888.
