Morecambe school children enjoy open top Promenade vintage bus ride to celebrate coronation

Sandylands School had a Right Royal Do to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III

Children from a Morecambe school have enjoyed a 'Right Royal Do' to celebrate the coronation with an open top vintage bus ride and a little help from our Eric!

Sandylands school pupils took a ride on an open top vintage Ribble bus on Morecambe Promenade as part of the celebration on Friday, and also got to pose at the Eric Morecambe Statue.

And didn't Eric look regal in his crown and robe!

Here's a clip of the children on the bus.

We caused quite a stir on the prom with our open top bus rides to the Eric Morecambe statue for photos. Lots of people beeping their horns and waving as we went along.

They also enjoyed a street party for lunch, a royal teddy bears' picnic, circus skills, magic acts and dancing.

The children also received a commemorative coronation coin and photograph as a souvenir of the special day.

A school spokesperson said: "The children all looked so smart and were a fantastic representation of the school.

"Thank you to Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust for the use of the bus."

The coronation of King Charles III takes place today (May 6) at Westminster Abbey.
