Morecambe RNLI has announced their new Operations Manager – and it’s the return of a familiar face.

The volunteer crew recently waved goodbye to Steve Wilson, who hung up his wellies after 28 years.

Steve retired at the end of March after nearly three decades of helping to save lives at sea.

Now, Paul Turner has been confirmed as new our new Lifeboat Operations Manager at Morecambe RNLI.

Paul previously serviced Morecambe Lifeboat station as operations crew and lifeboat helmsman from 2000-2012.

Paul said: “I am honoured to be appointed Lifeboat Operations Manager at Morecambe and look forward to leading the team.

‘’I left the RNLI in 2012 due to family, work and university commitments. I knew my time with the RNLI had not finished and I always strived to return.

‘’To be appointed as Operations Manager within this amazing charity is a fantastic opportunity to develop and lead the team so we can provide a professional life-saving service.”
