Morecambe RNLI called out to reports of children in difficulty

Morecambe’s lifeboat crew were called out to reports of children in difficulty over the weekend.

On Friday evening , the crew launched on service to reports of children in difficulty near the Battery car park.

The inshore rescue lifeboat with four volunteer crew members onboard launched and headed towards the area. Once on scene it was reported that the children had made their own way to the safety of the shore.

Morecambe RNLI are reminding people to take precautions to stay safe if out near the water.

A spokesperson said: ‘’Please remember to keep safe, check the weather and tide times and follow safety advice issued.

‘’If you get into trouble in the water, remember ‘Float to Live’’’.

‘’Tilt your head back with ears submerged and try to relax and control your breathing. Use your hands to help you stay afloat and then call for help or swim to safety if you can.

‘’In an emergency call 999 or 112, if you are at sea or on the beach ask for the coastguard.’’
