Early bird tickets for 2023 are on sale now following the success of the inaugural Morecambe Poetry Festival.

Dubbed 'the Glastonbury of poetry', headliners included 'godfathers of the spoken word' Dr John Cooper Clarke and Linton Kwesi Johnson, as well as Lemn Sissay, TS Eliot Prize winning Joelle Taylor, John Hegley, Atilla the Stockbroker and Kate Fox, performing to packed audiences at the Winter Gardens and Johnny’s Warehouse.

The overwhelming success of the event means that the dates for the 2023 event have already been confirmed as September 22 – 24.

Organiser, Matt Panesh, said: ‘’What a fantastic weekend. A big heartfelt thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Johnny's Warehouse Bar & Events Venue and the Morecambe Winter Gardens.

‘’Our team of volunteers Ben, Kat, Nigel, Chelsey, Steve, and a huge shout out to Colin who was inspired to recite a poem during the open mics.

‘’The poets were uniformly fantastic and the whole event had the feeling of a happening. A big thank you to Creative Lancashire who supported the event with vital funds.

‘’The noise this festival has made already means that preparation for next year starts now.’’
