A 77-year-old Morecambe man who lost his leg and has Motor Neurone Disease has completed an incredible cycle ride in blistering heat.
Graham Jackson cycled 52km on an exercise bike in the street for four-and-a-half hours in temperatures of up to 27 degrees to raise money for the MND Association in memory of his late son Tony - and he did so on one leg.
Graham, from Morecambe, lost his right leg in a motorcycle accident at the age of 17.
He was diagnosed with MND, which damages the nervous system causing muscle weakness, in 2019, and has progressive muscular atrophy, meaning the nervous system from the brain to the muscles doesn't work as it should, causing the muscles to fade away.
But he didn't let that stop him from taking on the cycling challenge - on a specially adapted bike he uses for physiotherapy - as part of the Barefest festival on Princes Crescent on Saturday.
He raised £400 on the day and is now hoping for more donations from a charity walk along the Promenade next month.
"I was diagnosed with MND and Tony then wanted to raise some money, but unfortunately he passed away (in 2021) after an accident when he was 47," said Graham.
"Last year I raised £7000 on a walk for Tony along the Promenade. It was so successful that MNDA local branch have asked me to do one again.
"So before it's too late I'm going to do one this year."

This year's 5km fundraising walk will be held on July 30 at noon starting at the Midland hotel, going to Broadway, then finishing back at the Eric Morecambe Statue.
People can walk or cycle to complete the route.
The walk is in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Wheels for All.
