Morecambe FC memorabilia auctioned in memory of Shrimps fan 'Ockers'

A piece of Morecambe FC's history is being auctioned off to raise funds in memory of a much-loved supporter of the club.

Sean O'Connor, a huge Shrimps fan and match day programme editor at the club for a decade, passed away in 2015 after a brave battle with cancer.

Sean's wife Sharon is holding an auction of a piece of memorabilia that belonged to Sean, with funds going to the Hospice at Home team at St John's Hospice in Lancaster.

She is accepting bids for the original metal Morecambe FC club shop sign from Christie Park, the Shrimps' home until they moved to the Mazuma Stadium in 2010.

Sean, also known as 'Ockers', did commentary on Morecambe games for The Bay radio, and drove minibuses of Shrimps fans to away games all over the country.

He was a massive fan of soul music, who helped form the Seaside Soul Club in Morecambe, and the town's North Lancs Soul Festival.

The closing date for bids is February 28. Please message Sharon Clark-O'Connor if you would like to bid.
