A Morecambe man has thanked supporters after announcing that the popular fundraising Christmas Illuminations at his home will end after 32 years.
Ian Clifton and his wife Diane have raised more than £72,000 for charity over three decades of lighting up their home on Lincoln Close, Westgate with festive decorations.
The annual Lincoln Close Illuminations, complete with its own switch on event, have been visited by huge crowds of local people over that time.
But the Cliftons have decided to end the Illuminations, although they will still light up their home at Christmas on a smaller scale.
"Ian has decided to call it a day after 32 years of raising monies for various charities, Derian House (children's hospice) being the main benefactor," said a statement on the Lincoln Close Illuminations Facebook page.
"Over the years he has raised over £72,000 with the help of his band of little merry helpers. He will still light up his house but not in the grand scale as years gone by.
"If anyone would like to continue donating, the money will be collected as usual and passed onto Derian House.
"Ian would like to thank the people of Morecambe, Lancaster and beyond for their wonderful support he has received over the years.
"And now it's time to fade away and call it a day!"
Regular visitors to the Lincoln Close Illuminations praised the couple's hard work and for putting "smiles on children's faces", with some saying their annual visit to the Cliftons' home had been part of their Christmas routine for years.
County Councillor Charlie Edwards, who represents Morecambe South, said: "Our very own Diane and Ian have announced they are going to retire from their annual fundraising event on their cul-de-sac in Westgate.
"I would like to thank you, so very much for the amazing work you have done to raise a huge sum of money for Derian House."
