The mayor has officially opened the new home of a company inside a former fitness gym in Morecambe town centre.

Councillor Roger Dennison, mayor of Lancaster, cut the ribbon to open the new PHX Training premises on Euston Road in the town centre on Tuesday.

The firm, which was previously based in an office under a block of flats close to Morecambe Bay Primary School, has moved into 53-55 Euston Road under the town's Travelodge (pictured below).

PHX Training are a family run company with branches in Lancashire and Cumbria.

They offer free accredited training courses to the local community, helping to upskill the local workforce so they can gain the skills and qualifications required to secure employment.

They have been holding an open day today (January 9) for people to see their new office following the refurbishment (see photo below from Tony North).

The building near the Arndale shopping centre was previously home to Snap Fitness, which closed its Morecambe gym in 2020.
