Local tributes pour in for Queen Elizabeth II

Schools, churches, parish councils, charities and other organisations from our local area have been paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

Here is a selection of the tributes.

 

CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria

"Everyone at CancerCare is deeply saddened to hear about the death of our Queen and Head of State, HRH Queen Elizabeth Il.

"The Queen has been patron of over 500 charities, military associations, professional bodies and public service organisations since her accession to the throne in 1952.

"Much of her working life was spent visiting and supporting charities doing vital work at the heart of local communities across the United Kingdom.

"We wish to convey our deepest sympathy and condolences to her family at this difficult time."

 

Lancaster Priory

"The communities and congregations of Lancaster Priory express their deep sadness at the news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen. As our Queen and Duke of Lancaster she has give us an exemplary example of Christian discipleship and service for 70 years. We give thanks to God for her reign, life and witness and we pray for all who mourn her death, especially praying for her immediate family and the royal household.

"Lancaster Priory is open from 9am to 4pm everyday.

"All are welcome to come and sign books of condolence and light candles. Floral tributes may be left on the stones outside the south side of the Priory.

"We will post in the coming days about special services and events.

"Please note that, apart from worship, all events are suspended until following the funeral."

 

Morecambe Town Council

A message from the chairman, Councillor Cary Matthews:

"On behalf of Morecambe Town Council, I extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family at this difficult time.

"The Queen had recently celebrated 70 years on the throne, was a constant presence, carrying out her duties with grace and dedication, whilst providing unfaltering public service.

"The impact of our longest-serving monarch will not be forgotten and we will continue to take inspiration from Her Majesty and her commitment to the service of this great country and to bettering the lives of others. We join with the nation in saying thank you, ma’am.
