A young Lancaster singer exited TV talent show The Voice in style while showing she has a promising future ahead.

Olivia-Mae Mulqueeney was not picked for the semi-finalists on Saturday night's episode of The Voice UK on ITV1, after a sing-off against three other contestants.

Pop superstar mentor Olly Murs, accompanied by guest James Arthur, could only pick one for the semi-final line-up and chose David Adeogun from London.

Murs said: "Olivia is a little gem, I think she has huge potential I really do."

Olivia and the other contestants performed 'Sandcastles' by Beyonce.

But after another tremendous vocal performance, Olivia was eliminated in this new section of the hit show, which is called 'Callbacks' and was designed to narrow the field down to 12.

The 16-year-old said afterwards: "What an incredible journey this has been!

"I got down to the Top 40 from 18,000 people for the adult Voice at just 16.

"It wasn’t my time tonight, I’m warming up.

"I’ve met some inspirational people along the way and I will never forget the auditions, the filming, the journeys to London.

"Thank you so much to everyone for your support!"

Olivia made it through the first round last Saturday night after a powerful performance of 'Good Without' by Mimi Webb.

She was watched in the studio by her proud mum Cheryl, dad Phil and dog Molly.

Olivia sings regularly at local venues and was part of Morecambe Music Festival earlier this year.
