Lancaster bar-restaurant moves to new city centre home

A bar-restaurant family business has moved to a brand new home in the centre of Lancaster.

The Bier & Twist has relocated from Church Street into new premises in Market Square and opens today (Friday July 28).

Licensee Dom Hoyle and his sister Megan are part of the management team at the venue, which opened in the former Molly's restaurant in November.

They decided to move to the Market Square building because of its bigger capacity and they will be serving an improved food menu as well as putting on live entertainment.

Their new home has had several occupants over the years, including the Blue Anchor pub, Bar 1725 and Sydney's restaurant, which closed last month.

"We felt quite restricted where we were," said Connor.

"The business was good, but the numbers weren't quite what we wanted. The capacity is bigger here, it's a better opportunity and we think it's going to take off quite well."

Megan said: "We've not made major changes but we've put our little twist and way of things into it, so hopefully it's something for everybody to enjoy."

Here is the former Bier & Twist on Church Street.

Bier & Twist will reopen in its new home with live entertainment tonight from RAF and R&B classics, and DJ Summer J with sax and bongos.

Singer Tom Woods will perform on Saturday.
