INTERVIEW: Why a new luxury feline retreat at Hest Bank is cool for cats

Terry McArdle from Hest Bank Kennels with a feline friend

Cats can watch TV and enjoy relaxing on their own outdoor 'catio' as part of a major investment in an animal kennels at Hest Bank.

Hest Bank Kennels will be holding an open day on Saturday September 16 to show off their new facilities for felines after opening a new state-of-the-art Cat Retreat.

The business is owned by Terry McArdle and Garry Wilkinson who showed Beyond Radio around the new retreat and lodges for the cats they take care of.

Terry and Garry bought the kennels and cattery business in March 2018, and during their ownership, have made major improvements, and invested heavily in the business, which has accommodation for 100 dogs and 58 cats.

We spoke to Garry and Terry (pictured below) about the new facilities, the open day, why they decided to buy the business, how the kennels rebounded from the Covid-19 pandemic, how they look after snakes, and why classical music is loved by their animal guests!
