A 'giant sea monster' with huge inflatable tentacles will take over the Morecambe Winter Gardens as part of the returning Baylight festival.
The inflatable sea creature - created by internationally renowned artists - will emerge from the balcony at the historic theatre as just one of the new installations at the returning light festival from February 15-17.
Artists Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas from Designs in Air are renowned for creating this massive marine spectacle at buildings all over the world.
Their other work included a nine metre tall rainbow paintbrush on the roof of the Manchester Arndale Centre to celebrate Pride.
The debut Baylight festival in February 2023 drew huge crowds to Morecambe Promenade to see various creative light art exhibits.
This year's Baylight event will be themed on the sea and Morecambe Bay.
It will include a Friday Night Parade and an expanded collection of 21 installations and experiences.
Presented by Morecambe Sparkle CIC, this free event in February half term promises "an unforgettable celebration of art and light, and igniting the spirit of community".
The main event will be open each night from 6pm to 10pm and will showcase work designed by a mix of local and national artists, along with an interactive piece from the Netherlands.
The trail, positioned along Morecambe Seafront, extends over a mile from the Sailing Club Jetty to the Midland Hotel and Stone Jetty.
Other events at Baylight this year include a hands-on workshop suitable for ages six and above (with parent support for under 16s).
Kids will be able to explore sculptural and 3D skills to craft fantastic hand and stick-held processional creations from undersea creatures to monsters, Morecambe Bay shrimps, or mysterious objects.
Their illuminated creations will shine in the Baylight '24 parade on Friday, February 16.

Baylight '24 has gathered support from Lancashire County Council, contributing £425,000 towards the project over two years from its £12.8m Economic Recovery & Growth Fund. Additional match funding comes from Morecambe Town Council and Morecambe BID.
This year the event has received extra funding support from Morecambe’s local businesses and organisations, including Althams Butchers, Wright & Lord Solicitors, Heysham Power Stations, The Midland Hotel, West End Morecambe (Big Lottery), The Royal Bar & Shaker, Waters & Atkinson Accountants and The Ship Inn, Caton.
