Fury uses his birthday to ‘retire’ again…just days after announcing a comeback

Morecambe’s heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has used his birthday to again announce his ‘retirement’, just days after claiming he was all ready to fight again.

The Gypsy King turns 34 today, and has used his Twitter feed to seemingly confirm he won’t enter the ring again.

Writing on social media, he said: ‘’A massive thanks to everyone who had an input in my career over the years. After long hard conversations I’ve finally decided to walk away, and on my 34th birthday I say ‘bon voyage’.

‘’Thanks to Frank Warren, Sugar Hill, BT Sport, my Dad, Spencer Brown, Steve Egan, ESPN, the WBC, Top Rank Boxing, Jimmy Harrington, Andy Lee, Isaac Lowe, Ben Davison, Kristian Black, Tim Allcock, Robert Davies, Shane Fury, Hughie Fury, James Ward, and a massive shoutout to (my wife) Paris, who helped me more than anyone.

‘’Most of all, thank you God. See you all on the other side.’’

On Tuesday, Tyson announced he was preparing to fight again, with local boxer and friend, ‘The Westgate Warrior’ Isaac Lowe, becoming his new trainer.

He made a shock announcement in a video filmed on Morecambe Promenade.

'The Gypsy King', who is undefeated in 33 professional fights, was asked by Andy Lee, one of his training team and himself a former world champion, why he had decided to return to boxing and why he had chosen Lowe as his new coach.

"I've decided to come back to boxing because I can be the first heavyweight champion in history to have two trilogies - one with Deontay Wilder and a second one with Dereck Chisora," said Fury.

"I always said I'd fight Dereck Chisora at the end of my career, and here we are breaking all records again, and setting precedents.

"Why I've chosen Isaac Lowe as my trainer, is because when I was with Peter (Fury), Isaac was there. When I was with Ben (Davison), Isaac's always been there. When I was with Sugar Hill, Isaac's always been there. He's always given me information. He knows me better than anybody on the planet. And we're a great team, we've always been together and we're going to finish this out together. We've always worked very well together and here we are, about to take on a massive massive massive event.''
