Former radio station boss takes over Lancaster pub

Bill Johnston

A former radio station boss has taken over the reins at a Lancaster quayside pub.

Bill Johnston will open the Wagon and Horses on St George's Quay for the first time under his management tonight (Thursday, September 22).

Mr Johnston is the former station director at The Bay radio, which was based just yards from the Wagon and Horses before the studios closed in 2019.

Prior to taking over the Wagon, Bill was in charge at The Canal Turn in Carnforth.

Mr Johnston has taken over the quayside pub from Paul Tarry and Carole Crossley who have left after almost a decade at the helm.

In a post on the Wagon and Horses Facebook page, he said: "My thanks to Paul and Carole for all their help, before and during the handover, and all they've done here the last 10 years.

"Looking forward to meeting and serving you all soon."

The Wagon (below) will be open for drinks only this evening from 5pm, and then will start serving food from Saturday, September 24.
