Cyclist attacked and robbed near canal at Hest Bank by suspects armed with screwdriver

A cyclist was assaulted near the canal at Hest Bank by two men - one armed with a screwdriver - who then stole his bike.

Police were called at 1.33pm on Wednesday to Hest Bank Lane, Hest Bank to a report of a robbery.

A police spokesperson said the male cyclist, 49, was cycling along the canal towpath when he was approached by two suspects close to Rushley Drive.

They threatened and punched him before taking the bike and heading in the direction of Carnforth.

The wife of the victim posted on Facebook that her husband had been attacked near the canal by two men in their early 20s, who she described as 'one Asian and one white'.

She said her husband had been punched twice in the face and stabbed twice in the stomach, possibly with a screwdriver, and that the bike was red with custom parts.

Police confirmed that one of the suspects had a screwdriver.

The first man is described as an Asian male, late teens or early twenties, and was wearing a black waterproof top.

The second male is described as white, again late teens or early twenties, with curly hair on the top of his head and wearing black clothing.

The bike is described as being a red pushbike with quick release wheels and front and rear suspension.
