Police are cracking down on anti-social behaviour after a spate of street drinking and drug dealing in Morecambe town centre.
The Euston Road pedestrian area in Morecambe town centre and the Clock Tower area, as well as the Ryelands estate in Lancaster are being targeted as part of Operation Centurion.
This crackdown on anti-social behaviour has been launched in the local area and throughout Lancashire, after a £2m investment to increase police patrols via the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Det Insp Adie Knowles spoke about the local anti-social behaviour hot-spots on his regular crime update, Beyond the Beat, on Beyond Radio on Tuesday.
"One at the moment is Poulton ward in Morecambe in terms of street drinking and there has been an issue with open drug dealing that we're trying to tackle," he said.
"Recent issues have been more on the pedestrian area of Euston Road, the Clock Tower and on the prom.
"In my 22 years in the constabulary Poulton Park and Poulton Square has been a typical hotspot of anti-social behaviour.
"There's nothing wrong with youths gathering, it's just when they engage in anti-social behaviour, damaging stuff, graffiti, being abusive, that's the kind of stuff we want to knock on the head.
"There has also been an issue of anti-social behaviour and disorder on the Ryelands Estate."
Det Insp Knowles (pictured below) called for residents to let the police know about any anti-social behaviour in their local area.
"Anti-social behaviour is all encompassing, it could be anything from drug dealing to noisy neighbours," he said.
"There are various agencies involved in trying to tackle it.
"Whatever is bothering you in your community please let us know."
