Christmas lights will return to Morecambe town centre this year, it has been confirmed.
Illuminated cones which proved so popular on Morecambe Promenade last year will be switched on again over the coming days.
Organisers Morecambe BID (Business Improvement District) said they are also working on another lights feature for Morecambe, to be revealed soon.
"Last year we introduced 24 multi-coloured LED cones down the prom which went down a storm," said John O'Neill, Morecambe BID manager.
"So added to our normal Sparkle programme, we're putting them up again. They're being installed this week and hopefully will be switched on very soon.
"We're working on a special feature which we hope to activate later this December."
The cones will stretch for one-and-a-half miles along the front from Northumberland Street to Lord Street.
There will also be lit cones in the Festival Market and Morrison's retail park car parks, and additional lights in other town centre streets.
The 'space flower' spotlights, though, will not be returning this year as they have a high energy cost, and Mr O'Neill said the BID wanted to keep costs down for local businesses.
The Christmas lights are paid for by town centre businesses within the Morecambe BID zone in the centre of the town.
Each business within the given zone pays 1.5 per cent of their rateable value into a funding pot once a year.
The BID is a private company that spends money raised from this levy on improvements to the town centre.
