Morecambe Colour Dash for St John's Hospice to go ahead as planned

The St John's Hospice Colour Dash will return to Morecambe as planned this Sunday (September 18).

The event in aid of St John's Hospice will go ahead after "careful consideration" following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

A spokesperson for the hospice said: "Her Majesty Elizabeth II was a well-known supporter of charities and hospices, in fact one of her last public appointments was with the Princess Royal to open a hospice.

"So, after careful consideration we have decided that the St John's Hospice Morecambe Colour Dash will go ahead on Sunday September 18.

"The event will open with time to remember the Queen's life of public service.

"We would love for you to join us for a memorable day!"

The Colour Dash is a fun family event in which people run or walk a 3.1 mile route in white T-shirts, while being doused with packets of powder paint!

This year's Dash sets off at 11am from the grassed area between the Midland Hotel and the RNLI lifeboat station on Morecambe Promenade.

The route follows the promenade in a southerly direction towards Heysham and turns round at Sunny Slopes to head back to the beginning.

There are stations spread out along the route where participants will get plastered with coloured powder!

Registration begins at 9.45am.

The Beyond Radio team will be there to host the event and set you all on your way!

Participants will be asked to raise money via sponsorship for the hospice, a Lancaster charity which provides free palliative care to patients with life shortening conditions.

If you have any questions please contact the fundraising team on 01524 382538 or email at fundraising@sjhospice.org.uk

Online entries close at noon this Friday (September 16) here.
