INTERVIEW: Lancaster theatre chief talks about this year's Christmas show Robin Hood

Karen O'Neill from The Dukes

More people will be able to buy tickets to see this year's Christmas show at The Dukes, says the chief executive of the Lancaster theatre.

Robin Hood will be performed in the theatre's bigger space of The Rake, rather than The Round where the Christmas show has appeared in recent years.

This means The Dukes will be able to offer 50 more seats per performance when the family show begins in November.

"People love the show and we needed more capacity for people to come and see it, we're really excited," said Karen.

Karen said The Dukes' version of the classic Sherwood Forest tale will be "a retelling of the story with a Lancashire twist".

It will even feature a giant monster Morecambe Bay shrimp, of all things!

"We've really tried to make the show feel fun and fresh, and really relevant to the area," she said.

"The Forest of Bowland is featured massively and we also have the monstrous shrimp of Morecambe Bay in the show - why not?"

The cast arrived at the Moor Lane theatre for rehearsals on Monday. Performances run from November 24 until December 31. Tickets available here .
