INTERVIEW: Cast are under starter's orders for 'day at the races' comedy at Lancaster theatre

Maire and Zoe from Lancaster Footlights visited the Beyond Radio studio to chat about Ladies Day

Four fish factory workers from Hull swap their overalls and wellies for fancy hats and a day at the races in a hit comedy show coming to Lancaster.

The Lancaster Footlights will present Ladies Day at the Grand Theatre every night from Tuesday, March 19 until Saturday March 23 at 7.30pm.

The play, which has been performed all over the world, looks at female friendship, hopes and dreams – a heart-warming yet poignant story of ‘ordinary’ women who seize the chance to change their lives and others besides.

In 2005, for one season only, Royal Ascot came to York, and four workmates from a fish factory in Hull decided they would go to ‘Ladies Day’!

So, it’s off with the hairnets, the overalls and white wellies as they head off in fancy hats, armed with fizz, for a day of glitz and glamour.

Pearl, Shelley, Jan and Linda all have different expectations and on their day out, all of their fortunes DO change – but in ways none of them had expected.
