Goals either side of the break from Michael Mellon and Jordan Slew respectively secured the points at the New Lawn, with substitute Tyrese Omotoye pulling one back late on for the hosts.

Morecambe started brightly with Jordan Slew playing in Michael Mellon, but his effort was easily saved by James Belshaw.

The home side had a chance on 15 minutes, when a counter attack ended with Troy Deeney squaring the ball to Matty Stevens, the striker drilling his effort wide of the right-hand post.

Mellon was then played in by Tom Bloxham, forcing a good low save from Belshaw before the deadlock was broken on 27 minutes. Donald Love found Mellon with a delightful through ball, and the striker produced a fine finish as he lifted the ball over the advancing keeper for his sixth goal of the season.

Bloxham could have double the advantage for the Shrimps just before half time, when his 40 yard effort fell just wide with the keeper stranded well out of his net.

Morecambe doubled their advantage three minutes after half time, with a superb counter attack.

Jake Taylor played the ball to Bloxham down the right, his low cross was perfect for Slew to sweep home for first of the season at the far post.

Rovers then fought back strongly with Tyrese Omotoye heading over from close range and Deeney seeing a shot superbly blocked by Taylor.

On 60 minutes, the home side nearly pulled one back when Marcel Lavinier was found at the back post, though he skied his effort over the bar.

At the other end, Morecambe always looked a threat on the break with Belshaw being forced into superb saves from McKiernan and King respectively, with efforts that would have certainly sealed the points.

The Shrimps' defence was finally breached five minutes from time when Omotoye headed home from close range, though once again, Adams' men dug deep and held on for all three points.
