Morecambe prepare for crucial clash with Wycombe

Morecambe are in desperate need of three points this weekend as play-off chasing Wycombe Wanderers visit the Mazuma Stadium.

The Shrimps remain in the League One relegation zone, and go in to their penultimate home game of the season five points from safety, with four games of the season remaining.

There’s full commentary of the match on Shrimps Live, our coverage from the Mazuma starting at 2:45pm on our FM and DAB+ services.

Morecambe are waiting on the fitness of Pape Souare, after the Senegalese defender went off with a calf strain in the second half of the goalless draw at Portsmouth on Easter Monday, while Liam Shaw, Jacob Bedeau, Max Melbourne and Ash Hunter have all also been sidelined in recent games.

‘’We can’t ask any more of these players,’’ said manager, Derek Adams.

‘’They’ve been through difficult circumstances this season, on and off the pitch, and they keep on going.

‘’Monday typified that, every player put in an excellent performance.’’

The Chairboys are eighth in the table, three points outside the play-offs, ahead of the game, under their new manager, Wanderers legend Matt Bloomfield, who was appointed earlier this year following Gareth Ainsworth’s move to QPR.

‘’It’s another tough game for us, and again it’s another team pushing towards that play-off position, and we’re trying to keep ourselves in League One,’’ added Adams.

‘’It’s a tough game, but we went to Fratton Park, and not too many teams go there and do as well as we did.

‘’The players on the pitch are working extremely hard for this football club. Unfortunately for us we’re in a situation where it’s been a difficult season, and what’s gone on off the field hasn’t helped us on the field. Everyone knows that, but what I will say, is that I can’t ask for any more from these players, but unfortunately there are other things that are out of our control.’’
