Morecambe darts ace Dave Chisnall aiming for PDC World Championship glory

Morecambe darts ace Dave Chisnall gets his 2024 World Championship campaign underway this weekend at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace.

He begins his campaign in round two on Saturday afternoon (December 16), where he will face the winner of Cameron Menzies and Rusty-Jake Rodriguez, who face off in the first round during tomorrow’s opening day.

The Paddy Power sponsored event boasts a prize fund of £2.5m, including a £500,000 cheque for the winner.

Chizzy goes into the biggest tournament of the year as 11th seed, and is looking to recapture the form that saw him make the semi-finals in 2021, as he bids to win his first ever TV title.

The 43-year-old has previously made a total of seven major finals, including being runner up in the BDO World Darts final in 2010, but has never lifted the trophy at a televised event. He was most recently a runner up in final of The Masters in 2022.

Chizzy has enjoyed an excellent season, claiming no fewer than five ranking titles in 2023, including success at three European Tour events and the Players Championship 23 and 30.

If he progresses to round three, he wouldn’t be back in action until at least December 27, due to the scheduling of the event, which has a field of 96 players.
