Lancaster City to host Bamber Bridge in LFA Challenge Trophy quarter final

Lancaster City won the LFA Challenge Trophy in 2021

Lancaster City will play Bamber Bridge in the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy quarter final.

The two NPL Premier Division sides will meet at The Giant Axe on Tuesday, January 16 at 7.45pm.

The other teams left in the competition are FC St Helens, Colne, Padiham, Longridge Town, Southport - the current holders - and Bacup Borough.

Lancaster City have won the competition seven times, most recently in 2021 when they were victorious over Prestwich Heys in the delayed 2019/20 final.

The Dolly Blues have beaten AFC Fylde and Prestwich Heys this season to progress to this stage.

Bamber Bridge have won the trophy once, in the 1994/95 campaign.

Lancaster were not in action this weekend due to their scheduled NPL Premier Division game at Matlock Town on Saturday being called off due to a frozen pitch.

That game has now been rearranged for March 9.

The Dolly Blues’ next game is away to Marske United on December 12.

It remains to be seen whether current interim management duo of Andrew Teague and Simon Grand will still be in charge for that game.

Teague and Grand have been the club’s interim management team since Mark Fell’s resignation as manager on November 22.

In their first game in temporary charge, Lancaster drew 2-2 at home to Bradford Park Avenue on November 25.

Three days later, they beat Whitby Town 2-1 at The Giant Axe.
