Lancaster City set for first away game of Northern Premier League season

Marine AFC's ground Rossett Park

Lancaster City FC will play their first away game of the season when they travel to Merseyside to face Marine AFC at Rossett Park on Tuesday night (August 16).

The home side, who were promoted via the Northern Premier League Division One West playoffs in April, made a very good start to their campaign on Saturday, beating the recently relegated Guiseley 3-0.

It’s only one game in, but the Mariners currently occupy second place in the league, only behind Gainsborough Trinity, who also won 3-0 on game day 1.

As for the Dolly Blues, they had a frustrating start to the season as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Nantwich Town.

Although there were some positive signs for City on Saturday, manager Mark Fell told Lancaster City’s website that he was "disgusted" with a certain 20-minute period during their second half performance and said his team "should’ve been out of sight".

He and his side will no doubt be hoping to be more profitable in front of goal on Tuesday night.

Fell also told the club website that it was likely that Bradley Carroll will not feature at Rossett Park due to a hamstring problem, while striker Nico Evangelinos could be fit to make his competitive debut for the Dollies.

Marine AFC vs Lancaster City kicks off on Tuesday 7:45pm at Rossett Park.
