Lancaster City will be wanting to bounce back from their Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy defeat when they host AFC Marine this Saturday.

The Dollies lost 1-0 to Bamber Bridge on Wednesday evening, a result that saw them knocked out in the second round of the competition they won in the 2019/20 season.

Despite Lancaster’s failure to progress in the LFA Challenge Trophy, they have been going strong in the Northern Premier League Premier Division recently. They have been victorious in their last four league matches against Marske United, Whitby Town, Hyde United and Ashton United.

They have already faced AFC Marine once this season, back in August. The two sides played out a 0-0 at the Mariners’ home, Rossett Park.

Lancaster City are one of several NPL teams to have decided to push kick off time forwards to 12.30pm on Saturday. The decision was made when there was a possibility England could be playing at 3pm on the same day in the FIFA World Cup if they had finished second in their group.

The visitors to the Giant Axe this Saturday are currently fourth in the league and have kept five consecutive clean sheets across all competitions.

Twenty-year-old midfielder Hayden Campbell has been the star man for the Mariners this season, scoring eight goals in the league alone, and a further two in other competitions.

Lancaster captain Andy Teague made a return to action on Wednesday night, coming on as a sub after being sidelined with a nasty head injury which had kept him out since early November.

He could be in line to make another appearance, possibly as a starter, on Saturday.

Rob Henry, the club’s assistant manager told the club website on Wednesday that despite the Dollies’ good run of form recently, 'Teaguey’s presence had been missed.

Lancaster City v AFC Marine kicks off at the Giant Axe at 12.30pm on Saturday December 3.
