'Best ever report' for Morecambe FC as club achieves award for family excellence

Morecambe FC has been recognised for the quality of its matchday experience for families with its 'best ever report' from the English Football League.

The club received an English Football League (EFL) Family Excellence Award for season 2022/23.

The club was assessed by an EFL inspector on the day of the match against Peterborough United in February - and has met the required standard in delivering a positive and welcoming environment for families attending the Mazuma Stadium.

The Shrimps' website and travel scored the highest marks that have led to the club being recognised for its efforts to make the fan experience good quality for both home and away supporters.

The EFL also said the club is "laying down foundations for the future".

The club has internally had a sub-group working on family excellence and will continue to develop this.

“It is fantastic for the club and staff to see their efforts recognised," said Ben Sadler, Chief Executive Officer at Morecambe FC.

"We have put a lot of effort and time in to driving our family excellence experience up and it is great to see that rewarded with our best ever report.

“Our cross-department working group, lead by Anya Wood and which includes invaluable support and drive from MFC Community Sports, will continue to work hard to improve on this once again. The feedback we have been given provides us with a clear idea of the ways we can strengthen in this area, and we look forward to working on that again next season.”

The club puts on numerous matchday activities to entertain families including live music outside the ground, performances by the Shrimpettes cheerleaders and appearances by the Shrimps' mascot Christie the Cat.
