UK bubble tea chain set to open in Lancaster city centre

CUPP is set to open a bubble tea shop in Lancaster city centre

A bubble tea chain with outlets all over the UK is set to open a shop in Lancaster city centre.

Signs have gone up outside a vacant unit on Penny Street, next door to Clark's shoe shop, advertising an opening day for CUPP coming soon with 'free bubble tea'.

The shop is also advertising for staff and asking anyone who is interested to email lancaster@cuppbubbletea.co.uk

Bubble tea has become a craze in the UK in recent years and several other shops selling the drink have opened in Lancaster and Morecambe.

Earlier this year the Boba Boba shop opened on the corner of Market Street and China Street.

Originally bubble tea (also known as pearl milk tea, boba tea, boba milk tea and bubble milk tea) was a term given to drinks that consisted of tea, milk and chewy tapioca pearls which are shaken together to form a bubbly foam on top of the drink.

These days, the name 'bubble tea' is given to a wide variety of fruity and milk infused teas that are produced in this way.

The origins of bubble tea come from Taiwan in the 1980s and have become increasingly popular across the world.

CUPP launched in Bristol in 2012 and has expanded to open outlets all over the country.
