There have been a number of reports of individuals trying insecure doors on cars and properties in recent weeks in the Vale area of Lancaster.

Among them, there was a burglary at 12:30am on June 4th on Lindeth Gardens, where a vehicle and an address were entered and items stolen.

Two males were chased by the homeowner but they fled the scene.

Enquiries continue.

In another incident on June 1st, males were seen carrying rucksacks and with their faces covered on Slyne Road late at night.

Det Sgt Adie Knowles from Lancaster Police said: ‘’It’s a warning to people who live in that area of the city to be vigilant, keep your cars locked and properties secure, even if you’re at home.

‘’If you see anything suspicious, people loitering around, trespassing onto property etc, then please let us know. If you see people trying door handles, it’s classed as a crime in progress, and you can ring it in on 999.

‘’Please keep your eyes peeled. We have officers specifically tasked to that area to try and stop these offences happening.’’
